WPDH Album of the Week: Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers is the debut album from Tom Petty released in 1976 on Shelter Records. The single "Breakdown" became a top 40 hit and "American Girl" became a staple at classic rock radio. The album initially climbed the charts in the U.K. and got little attention in the U.S. until after nearly a year later. The album would finally reach the U.S. charts after recieving many positive reviews, eventually going Gold.
