WPDH Album of the Week: Kinks ‘Lola Versus Powerman’

The Kinks released their eighth studio album Lola Versus Powerman, a concept album, in 1970. The album is a satirical assessment of the music industry, including song publishers, unions, the press, accountants, business managers, and life on the road. It features the hit singles "Lola" and "Apeman". Music critic Stephen Thomas Erlewine described the album as "a wildly unfocused but nonetheless dazzling tour de force, containing some of Ray Davies' strongest songs."
