Judas Priest released their sixth studio album British Steel in April of 1980 on Columbia Records. With British Steel, the band reprised their commercial sound that they established on Hell Bent for Leather, with hit singles like "Breaking the Law" and "Living After Midnight". Rob Halford said that some of the songs were influenced by AC/DC after supporting them on a European tour in 1979. AllMusic gave the album a five out of five star review, saying that the album "kick-started heavy metal's glory days of the 1980's."
