The second studio album from the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Axis: Bold as Love was the follow up to the successful Are You Experienced album. The album reached number 5 in the U.K. and number 3 in the U.S., and was well received by critics who praised the mix of hard rock, blues, and jazz. Jim Miller of Rolling Stone hailed the album as "the refinement of white noise into psychedelia ... the finest voodoo album that any rock group has ever produced to date."
