WPDH Album of the Week: Jimi Hendrix ‘Are You Experienced’

The debut studio album from the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Are You Experienced was released in 1967 and it was an immediate critical and commercial success selling one million copies within seven months of it's release. It is considered to be one of the greatest debut albums in rock history. Released by Reprise Records, the album remained on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart for 106 weeks and reached number 5. Singles off the album include "Purple Haze", "Hey Joe", and "The Wind Cries Mary". Rolling Stone ranked Are You Experienced fifteenth on their list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
