A Hudson Valley Tree service worker was in for quite a shock while doing routine work on a tree stump. Fred Hill was outside of a home in Millbrook Wednesday morning when he happen to stumble upon a grenade. Yes, a grenade.

As Hill was trying to clear a tree stump, he said hit something "hard and metal-like" while digging. The Times Herald Record said that the 36-year-old employee of Mike's Tree Service in Clinton Corners then picked an object covered in dirt that was the size of a baseball. Obviously a bit rattled by the discovery. Hill says he tossed it out of the way and called 911.

Fortunately the grenade was not live. A NY state police bomb squad unit soon arrived and closed off the street. Troopers say that the grenade was "non-active" and didn't pose any danger.
