A woman was pulled over for drinking while driving. Thing is, she was drinking coffee.

Lindsey Krieger was on her way to work when she said a police officer saw her take a sip of coffee behind the wheel and quickly pulled her over Monday.

The St Paul, Minnesota woman said the officer told her, "It’s against the law to drink coffee while you’re driving.”

Sgt. Mike Ernster with the St. Paul Police Department told Fox 9 he couldn’t comment on the case specifically. But he did say that the officer who pulled Krieger over had the law on their side. “Inattentive driving relates to anything that takes your attention away from those obligations of every driver, which is to pay attention." said Sgt. Ernster.

Jon Cummings with Minnesotans for Safe Driving feels that this incident has the cops focusing on the wrong people. “Every car you drive in has cup holders in it." he said. “You don’t have to go three blocks before you see somebody doing something really dangerous. Those are the people we should be focusing on.”

Krieger said the officer cited her, not for drinking coffee, but for driving without her seat belt on. She said she had unbuckled her seat belt when she was pulled over, and plans to fight the ticket in court.
