Traffic was backed up on the Mid-Hudson Bridge in Poughkeepsie late this morning into the lunch hour in both directions. Early reports were that a woman had jumped off the bridge, at the time bridge officials just reported police activity.

A report in the Daily Freeman said the Ulster County Sheriff's Office confirmed a woman did jump from the bridge. Capt. Vincent Altieri told the paper that a 911 call was received around 12:30pm and the office was able to confirm the information shortly thereafter. The woman stopped her car on the bridge, then got out of the car, according to the Freeman. Then the woman jumped off the bridge.

The Ulster County Sheriff’s dive team responded to the scene and were in the waters of the Hudson River, the newspaper reports. There is limited information at this time. No word on the make and model of the vehicle.  There is also no information about the woman and what might have caused her to jump from the bridge. No word from officials if her body was found.
