Does winter bring you down?  Here is something that might make you appreciate winter a little more.  The Kingston Parks and Recreation Department will be having their annual Winterfest at Hasbrouck Park this Saturday, Jan. 28, from 10 am - 2 pm.

Winterfest is a great opportunity for people to get outside and celebrate winter.  During Winterfest, you will be able to attend one of three snowshoe instructional classes with a hike through Hasbrouck Park. The hike will include a lesson on the history of snowshoeing, animal tracking and winter safety. Classes will be at 11 am, 12 noon and 1 pm, led by environmental educators from the Parks and Recreation Department. Snowshoes will be provided to those interested in participating. Classes are first come, first serve and are appropriate for youth and adults, novices or advanced snowshoers. Make sure you wear warm clothes and winter footwear. In the event of no snow or poor snow conditions, a winter hike without snowshoes will be held.

If you would rather stay warm, head inside the Hasbrouck Park Stone Building where they will have a variety of children’s arts and crafts, games, warm beverages and food. There will also be a campfire to make delicious s’mores.  Sounds like a fun day, doesn't it?

Winterfest is snow, rain or shine. For more information and directions to Hasbrouck Park, visit kingtsonparksandrec.org.
