The snow hadn't even started falling by 5:30am on Thursday, but schools were already closing for the day.

Winter storm Grayson will be hitting the Northeast part of the country hard today with blizzard-like conditions and some significant snowfall. While the Hudson Valley isn't expected to see the worst of it, the impending doom was enough to start closing schools early.

Most schools skipped right past delaying classes and just closed down for the day. Middletown, Kingston, Newburgh, Poughkeepsie and Wappingers all announced that school would be closed on Thursday. Almost all of the other school districts in the area have followed suit. Of course, to make sure your school district is actually closed you can check our updated online database.

Other organizations and businesses are also closed today after the forecast was adjusted to anywhere between 3 and 6 inches of snow for the Hudson Valley area. Communities in higher elevations could see even more of the white stuff.

Be sure to stay tuned this morning for the latest traffic, weather and snow information.
