It's about to get cold in the Hudson Valley and we mean really cold. It's time to bundle up, cover any exposed skin, and limit how long you stay outdoors because the National Weather Service has issued a Special Weather Statement stating that we could see potentially life threatening situations with the extreme cold this weekend.

A Wind Chill Watch, from the National Weather Service will be in effect from Saturday afternoon through Sunday afternoon. We could see wind chill readings of 25 to 40 below zero at times with Northwest winds from 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. This is nothing to mess around with.

Don't go outside without gloves, a hat, and several layers of clothing. Depending on your house or apartment, you may need to run water at a trickle or even leave cabinet doors open to help prevent pipes from freezing. Please don't use a stove or oven to help heat your home and don't forget about your pets, it's definitely time to put those doggy coats on them this weekend.

Be safe and stay warm this weekend.
