President-elect Donald Trump will be very busy over the upcoming weeks as he works with his advisors to put together his transition team.

Over the past few weeks we've heard quite a few names pop up. Some of the names may come as a bit of a surprise.

One name being considered for the United States Ambassador to Japan is former New York Mets manager Bobby Valentine.

Yes, the former Major League manager has been close friends with Trump since the 1980s. He's also spent some time in the Land of the Rising Sun, as he managed the Chiba Lotte Marines of the Pacific League for six years. He even helped coach them to the league title in 2005.

The NY Daily News says that Valentine is also friendly with Anthony Scaramucci, who is a member of the Presidential Transition Team Executive Committee, as well as Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. Both Valentine and Abe graduated from the University of Southern California

Valentine managed the Mets for seven years, leading the team to a 536-467 record. The Mets won the NL Pennant in 2000 under Valentine.

Valentine is currently the Athletic Director for Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT.
