A $5.5 million project was announced for the Walkway Over the Hudson this week. We spoke with a representative from the park who explains what the new construction means for the future of the pedestrian bridge.

On Monday morning Governor Cuomo appeared on the Walkway Over the Hudson to announce a major new project that would build new energy efficient gateway visitor centers on both entrances of the Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park.

The temporary trailers on both ends of the walkway will finally be removed. In their place will be a new amphitheater, indoor bathrooms, outdoor seating and new landscaping. In 2014 a 21-story elevator was opened to the public, costing almost $3 million. With the new $5.5 million visitor center project now underway, some visitors told us that  they're worried the park might begin charging admission in order to raise money for future projects. Elizabeth Heart from the Walkway Over the Hudson joined us on the air to explain the details of the project and how it will affect future visitors.
