Children of the Hudson Valley are encouraged to jump in muddy puddles on April 1 to honor a courageous child and his brave fight with cancer.

The Muddy Puddles Project was formed in Carmel, NY in 2012 to honor five-year old Ty Campbell who passed away from childhood cancer. Cindy and Louis Campbell now run the nonprofit organization that funds innovative research and technology specifically geared toward the treatment of the deadliest childhood cancers.

Ty battled cancer for more than half of his young life, and wanted more than anything to just be a kid and do things like everyone else did, like jump in mud puddles. On April 1, parents are encouraged to let their kids jump in mud puddles for all of the children who wish they could.

The Muddy Puddles Project is designed to help parents remember not to stop sweating the small stuff and at the same time, raise money in support  of childhood cancer research.

You can celebrate by uploading pictures of your kids jumping in puddles and sharing your own inspirational stories at the Muddy Puddles Project's official website. You'll also be able to find out more about the organization and other ways to participate and support the cause.
