There are many terms you could use to describe Russian President Vladmir Putin, and not all of them would be very flattering.

But would a 'man of peace' be one of them?

That's what two fans of the Russian politician seem to think. Police say the men allegedly hung up a giant banner of Putin on the Manhattan Bridge with the words "Peacemaker" below ealry Thursday afternoon.

The NY Daily news says the two were caught on surveillance cameras on the East River as they hung the forty foot long banner for all to see.

A passing bicyclists saw the banner and called police. By the time NYPD arrived, the two unidentified individuals had grabbed the banner and escaped.

Police are still looking for the two. No one knows as of now what exactly the point of this was. Were they making some sort statement on US policy towards Russia, and the recent collapsed talks between the two nations?

Or perhaps they're just a couple of run-of-the-mill pranksters?
