If you were disappointed by the Fourth of July fireworks display in Poughkeepsie this year, you're not alone. But there was a very good reason why the celebration was cut short.

According to the Poughkeepsie Journal, an electrical malfunction was the reason why Poughkeepsie's fireworks were less than spectacular this year. Onlookers were disappointed when the annual display ended unceremoniously after about 18 minutes.

At first, it seemed that the fireworks had ended, then after a 30 second pause, they started up again. A few moments later, however, the fireworks stopped for good without a traditional "grand finale." The reason was due to a malfunction with the ignition of the fireworks. It's reported that the fireworks were going off too fast and that's why the finale didn't happen.

Even though the show was disappointing, onlookers from the Walkway Over the Hudson will not be getting a refund. The Journal says that Walkway officials will not be refunding the $12.50 admission price that was charged to watch the fireworks from the pedestrian bridge. The ticketed event is the Walkway's biggest yearly fundraiser.

Legion Fireworks in Wappingers Falls was the company responsible for putting on the display. so far, they have not commented on what happened. The good news, according to Mayor John Tkazyik, is that no one was hurt and that everyone involved with the show was safe.

We want to know what you think. Were you disappointed by Poughkeepsie's fireworks this year? Do you think onlookers from the Walkway should get a refund?
