What is the Haitian President doing in our area today?

As part of United Nations Week, President Michel Martelly of Haiti happens to be visiting New York, so he decided to drop in on some Rockland County residents.

According to the Journal News, Martelly will be speaking at St. Joseph Church at 7:30 pm. Spring Valley has a large number of Haitian and Caribbean residents, so it makes sense for the Haitian leader to pay a visit. This will be the first time Martelly has been in Rockland County.

Local artists are scheduled to perform, which should be of interest to President Martelly. The President was a musician before being elected back in 2011. There's no word if Martelly, who performed under the name "Sweet Micky," will be joining in with the bands.

This is a ticketed event, so if you'd like to attend you will need to grab a free admission from one of the local businesses handing them out.
