If you're dreaming of a white Christmas, you may be in luck this year.

Besides one whopper of a storm early in the season that left commuters stranded for hours, the Hudson Valley hasn't seen much in the way of snow so far this winter. While avoiding the white stuff is something no one is complaining about, most people wouldn't mind seeing some Christmas snow.

Well, those who are looking for a white Christmas should be encouraged by the current forecast on Weather.com. According to their extended forecast, there is a good chance we'll see snow on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Just how much snow, if any, is still anyone's guess. Forecasting the weather this far in advance is far from an exact science. As of Tuesday, Weather.com was predicting snowfall in Middletown, Poughkeepsie and many other areas of the Hudson Valley on December 24 and 25. Temperatures will be in the low 30's and there is a 40% chance of snow showers on both days. Other areas of the Hudson Valley, like Newburgh, New Paltz and Kingston are currently forecast for rain turning to snow overnight.

Again, it will be at least a week before we really zero in on a reliable forecast, but the chances for a white Christmas seem to be increasing. Just how much snow, and whether or not it will put a damper on your holiday travel plans is something we'll need to keep our eyes on.
