After a solid week of beach drinking we can finally reveal the results of our scientific taste test. Which beach beer is best for you?

Picking the perfect beach beer isn't easy. For me, it needs to fit a few specific requirements:

  • It has to be refreshing
  • It needs to come in a can
  • It must have lots of flavor
  • And I have to be able to drink a lot of it without getting too inebriated in the hot sun

Now, there are some incredible beers that I drink when not on vacation that easily fit these rules. Newburgh Cream Ale is an amazing choice. Also Whale's Tale Pale Ale from Cisco Brewing is a solid, sessionable beer. You could easily put Brooklyn Lager, Sierra Nevada and Sam Adams' Summer Ale in this category too.

But the final, and most important requirement of a good beach beer is that it needs to be something you don't drink at home very often. When I go away on a trip I seize the opportunity to try different beers. Hell, you're on vacation... so why shouldn't your taste buds get a vacation too?

So, after an exhaustive week-and-a-half of testing out a whole new crop of ales and lagers while soaking in the sun on Long Beach Island, I present my top choices for this year's beach beer. Which one do you think is right for you?
