There are so many ways to celebrate the new year. Some people go out and party all night long, others stay at home with family and friends, and still others make it a day of reflection of the past year. If you are looking for something to add to your celebration, or looking for a different way to ring in 2016, here's a few ideas.

12/31: New Year's Eve Millbrook will feature free, family-friendly entertainment from 4-8 pm throughout the village, all thanks to the Millbrook Rotary Club. Listen to live music, see a magic show, and enjoy the Bindlestiff Cirkus. Plus, see the Hudson Valley Large Scale Railroad Club model railroad display. 12/31: If tennis is your thing, then this is perfect. Celebrate New Year's Eve with a Tennis Jazz Party at Cross Court Tennis Club in Wappingers Falls from 8 pm- 1am. Bring your friends to play tennis from 8-11 pm, then enjoy food and music with a champagne toast at midnight! Bring a home-cooked dish to share. The Ben Basile Trio will fill the club with live jazz music! Cost is $30 per person or $50 a couple. Reserve your spot here. 

12/31: Here's an alcohol-free New Year's Eve celebration for those in recovery. Enjoy music,food, and dancing starting at 8 pm. It's free and open to all with casual festive dress. Celebrate new beginnings in the fellowship hall at the Poughkeepsie United Methodist Church.

12/31: Enjoy Uptown Kingston's New Year's Eve celebration. This will be a prohibition style event happening throughout the neighborhood, featuring jazz, swing, prohibition-style drinks, burlesque and more. The evening culminates with an old fashion ball-drop at the corner of Wall and North Front Streets in Kingston at midnight.

12/31: Celebrate the new year with three days of music and dancing with the New Year's Camp at Ashokan. Enjoy a New Year’s Eve dinner and dance. There will be Swing, Waltzes, Cajun, Contras and Squares along with music and dance workshops, singing sessions and jam sessions.

12/31: Second annual Saugerties New Year's Eve in the Village starting at 10 pm. There will be a stage on Main St. with performances from 10:30 pm-1 am. DJ, Refreshments and boy scouts will be handing out hot chocolate. Specials at many restaurants & bars. Midnight countdown and ball drop with Mayor & Police Chief on Main & Partition Streets. Some streets will be closed 10 pm-1 am.

12/31: New Year's Eve celebration in Marlboro beginning at 10 pm. See the special apple artwork structure for the official countdown to 2016, Marlboro style. Live music, dancing, MC/DJ, noisemakers. Food & beverage available at local eateries.

12/31: Ice skating at Bear Mountain Ice Rink. New Year's Eve public sessions will be held  10-11:30 am, 12-1:30 pm, 2-3:30 pm, and 4-5:30 pm.

12/31: New Year's Eve Ball Drop in Goshen. From 6-8 enjoy a wide variety of family activities such as Princess Aurora from Once Upon a Tea Party, Mad Science, balloon animals, music, W.K.Wilcox Magic Show, games and giveaways. Take part in the “Selfie” scavenger Hunt. For those with young children, take part in the Early to Bed New Year’s Countdown and Celebration at 8 pm. For those ready to stay up late, starting at 8 pm there will be live music and DJ including Dan Brother Band, Talking Machine, Dylan Owen, and at 11:59 pm New Year’s Community Countdown and Ball Drop.
