If you've driven past the Orange County Airport this weekend you might have got a glimpse of the enormous DIRECTV Blimp. Why is it here?

According to a Facebook post by Orange County officials, the blimp will be at the Montgomery airport until August 8. The reason this satellite TV service's dirigible has chosen Orange County as a base of operations is because it will be covering next week’s "Subway Series" between the Mets and Yankees.

Orange County officials say that if the weather clears, you may get a chance to see the Blimp flying over the Mid Hudson region on Sunday during a planned flight. The Hudson Valley tour was expected to include a trip over West Point.

Before heading to our area, The DIRECTV blimp spent last week in Boston flying over Fenway park. Some stats were shared about the blimp on the Orange County Facebook page. According to officials, the aircraft is approximately 178 feet long and 46 feet wide. It holds 170,000 cubic feet of helium and is the only ship in the world with a 2,100 square-foot full-color LED screen.
