Family that are friends. You can’t pick your family, but if I could I would pick the family I have. We are not only family, we have deep friendships. My sister is and always has been my best friend. There is nothing I wouldn’t do for her. And I love my sister’s husband too. He’s like a brother to me. As a little kid, I idolized my big brother who is ten years older than I am. I’m over the idol thing, but he’s still pretty awesome. And I love his significant other. Plus all of their children and grandchildren. We are family, but we are also friends.

I’m also thankful for friends that are like family. I don’t even know where I’d be without my close circle of friends. They have been there for me through thick and thin. I have a couple of close friends that I’ve known since high school. I love them even more now than I did back then. And I have other friends that I’ve only known for a decade, but it feels like it’s been a lifetime of friendship.

I’m thankful for a job that I love, and co-workers that I respect and like. Sure, getting up at 4 am sucks, but it’s worth it. I have fun pretty much from the minute I arrive here at the station. And the listeners? The best ever. Loyal, generous, friendly. I have met so many great listeners through the years, many have since become friends. The best.

I’m thankful for my little household. My boyfriend Bobby who knows me better than anyone. We often complete each other’s sentences. Even though we are pains in each other’s butts, I wouldn’t trade him for all the money in the world. And our cats. Noodles and Munchkin are our children. We get pleasure from them just about every minute of every day. Even our stray cats bring us happiness. I hope we do the same for them.

And then there are the obvious things. Food on the table, a roof over our heads, generally good health. And a great sense of humor.

Music. I am so thankful for music. Not only do my boyfriend and I make our livings in the music industry, but music has formed, changed, saved my life. I have favorite music for every mood, every celebration, every sad occasion.

What about you? What are you thankful for this year? Whatever it is, I wish you lots of it. Have a happy and healthy Thanksgiving. From my little household to yours.
