This weekend for me was all about celebrating. I had a friend's birthday on Friday and then on Saturday I went to a beautiful wedding. So on Sunday it was a day to decompress and relax a bit.

One of my favorite things to do around the Hudson Valley is check out the historic sites and go on hikes. Luckily in the Hudson Valley you can do both at the same time. I'm from Poughkeepsie so I check out Vanderbilt and Mills Mansion several times. What I didn't know is that at Mills Mansion there are several hiking trails. I figured I would be adventurous and make a right turn instead of left and was pleasantly surprised.

The trails took me down to the water and provided an awesome view of the Hudson River. As I'm walking around by the edge of the water I saw a huge log, thought it would be good to sit on and checked it for stability. It was a little shaky, but then I noticed it was decorated and I took a closer look:

I don't know if this is part of an art project or what, but it was beautiful. It caught me off guard, but made my day. Not only did I find that loch ness monster looking thing, but I stumbled upon some notes surrounded by sea glass:

Not sure what I came across, but I enjoyed making these finds. Have you seen these little art works around the Hudson Valley?
