Authorities in the town of New Hartford, N.Y have been looking for an escapee that's been on the loose for several months. But it's not the sort of escaped captive you might be thinking of.

The subject police are looking for is actually an escaped 1,500 lb cow. Previous efforts by police to trap the rouge bovine have proven unsuccessful.

The Utica Observer-Dispatch reports that officers have put feed in a headlock feeder and placed the device along a road outside Utica where the rogue cow has been spotted. Several motorists have spotted the cow in the last week as it ran for several miles on a local road before heading into the woods.

While efforts to identify its owner have been unsuccessful, a local farmer has agreed to take the animal in, if caught.
