This is certainly scary. A giant sinkhole opened up Tuesday morning, and took just about an entire intersection in Brooklyn. The estimated 20 x 20 foot sinkhole formed at Fifth Avenue and 64th Street, WABC reported.

FDNY Deputy Chief Peter Leicht said that the cave in was probably caused a water leak that undermined the road and washed away the earth, causing the street to give way. Crews will work to excavate the area and determine the exact cause of the hole. Water service was cut for two blocks and is expected to be out for some time, says WABC.

The FDNY said there were no injuries to any pedestrians or firefighters.
