The baseball world is freaking out over Mets' pitcher Bartolo Colon's first home run in his nineteen year career.

Like most pitchers, Colon was never known for his hitting abilities. In fact, his trips to the plate have been somewhat of a joke over the years.

That all changed Saturday, when the 42 year-old Colon hit a two-run home run off  the Padres' James Shields at Petco Park.

According to ESPN, Colon is the oldest player to hit his first career homer, passing Randy Johnson who was forty years and nine days old at the time.

This is such a big deal that a baseball card of Colon's home run broke sales records of Topps Now, selling 8,826 cards. The card went on sale late Sunday morning and stopped production exactly a day later.

The National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown has even requested items from Saturday's game.

Colon says the moment was the biggest of his career.
