As your probably felt over the weekend the heat and humidity has been on the increase.  It’s back for the first days of this work week.  It will be hot and humid for Monday and Tuesday.  The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for the Hudson Valley during the afternoon hours on Monday.  It appears, they may have to do the same on Tuesday.  Once again, those dewpoints temps will stay quiet high as this warm and humid airmass stays in place.

A cold front will move through the area on Monday and Tuesday, which could touch off some showers and thunderstorms.  Right now, the models aren’t favoring much in the way of activity on Monday, but Tuesday looks like we could see storms.  Then we get a break on Wednesday as temps lower into the 80’s and it becomes more seasonal.

Here’s the latest forecast from the National Weather Service:

Monday:  Patchy fog early, will burn off as the sun comes up.  Partly sunny and hot, high near 91.  Heat index will make it feel as high as 99.  There will be a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon.  There will be a calm wind developing in the afternoon.

Monday night:  Mostly cloudy, low around 73.  A chance of showers and thunderstorms.

Tuesday:  Showers and possible thunderstorms.  Some heavy rain with these storms, high near 86.  Heat index values could be as high as 95.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 83.
