The Walkway Over The Hudson elevator has been shut down for the second time since opening less than a week ago.  The Poughkeepsie Journal reports that the elevator was shut down on Friday for about an hour to repair to a button.  This time, however, repairs won't be as easy.

The elevator will be out of service effective immediately until Saturday, August 23.  Regional Director for the state park, Linda Cooper told The Journal,

This is an outdoor elevator unique to our state park system. The effect of busy weekends, weather and regular wear and tear will all be closely monitored during the early part of the elevator's life.

For those of you who missed a chance to ride the new elevator while it was operational, you can still take a virtual ride by viewing the video below.  Hopefully it will be back up and running soon!
