It's another case of one big company taking over another for more money than you could imagine.

According to ABC 7, drug store giant Walgreens has a deal in place to buy rival drugstore Rite Aid for about $9.41 billion in cash.

The deal combines the largest and third-largest U.S. drugstore chains, based on store counts and after this sale goes thru Walgreens will have nearly 18,000 stores around the world. Making them a true drugstore giant.

The Hudson Valley is home to almost 20 Rite Aid drugstores that will be affected by the sale.

This could be good news for us, the customer, because after adding Rite Aid's stores, Walgreens will hopefully be able to lower prices because of the ability to work deals with companies and in turn hopefully lower prices.

Rite Aid stores will initially keep its name after the deal closes, but that may change over time. The deal is expected to close in the second half of next year.

Let's hope this sale doesn't end up with any store closings.
