Just unbelievable.

According to the Times Herald Record, A Walden women was arrested and charged on Sunday with leaving her 1 year old son locked in their car where the temperature went over 100 degrees while she shopped in a Dollar Tree store.

On Sunday, Newburgh Police received a call stating that there was an unattended baby locked in a car parked at Marshalls.

When police arrived they found a 23-month-old boy locked inside a SUV with the front windows up and the back windows opened about a half of an inch.

The police unlocked the SUV's doors and removed the child from the sweltering car and sent the child to St. Luke’s Hospital, where he was treated and released.

Police told the Record that they searched for the boys mother for 45 minutes and finally located her in the Dollar Tree store.

The mom, Melanie Nixon was charged with first degree reckless endangerment, a felony, and endangering the welfare of a child.
