If you bought Coca-Cola from Wal-Mart this year, it's likely you paid too much.  The New York Attorney General has settled a false advertising claim against the company after receiving complaints about the price of soda.  The Associate Press reports that a national soda sale in June advertised Coke 12-packs for $3, but customers at 117 New York Wal-Mart locations paid $3.50.

Those who complained about the extra .50 cents were told that it was New York's new "sugar tax."  Of course, there is no such thing.  The markup of 16 percent is against the law.  A similar sale also happened in March, bringing the total 12-packs of soda New Yorkers were overcharged to an estimated 66,000.

Wal-Mart has been ordered to pay $66,000 in fines and fix the way the do internal reports.
