In a vine posted to his account, local reporter Michael Howard shows a car on Route 9G completely flipped on its front and on fire, the aftermath of just one serious accident that was reported this morning.

Roads are extremely dangerous today, as witnessed by the Time Warner Cable reporter.

This video was reportedly taken on Route 9G around 7:30am, after emergency crews had cleared the scene. According to Howard's Twitter account, 9G was closed to traffic due to the overturned vehicle.

UPDATE: Time Warner Cable is now reporting that the accident has resulted in one fatality. The apparent driver was the only one involved in the early morning crash that is said to have happened just before 7am at the intersection of Violet Avenue (9G) and Cedar.

In the past, this particular intersection has had many complaints of near-accidents during slippery driving conditions. Cedar ends at a stop sign, but the street has a quick, steep decline that causes vehicles, even traveling at very slow speeds, to slide right through the sign. There is no word how this accident took place, but police are asking anyone with information to contact Poughkeepsie authorities as they continue their investigation.

Numerous accidents were reported throughout our area, including multiple incidents on the Taconic and Palisades Parkway. The New York State Thruway was closed this morning south of Newburgh, according to ABC 7 News.

The freezing rain continues throughout the day, with temperatures predicted to go above freezing this afternoon. Hudson Valley residents are urged to stay home if possible and take precaution if traveling is necessary today.
