This is like something straight out of science fiction.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has released videos of a Galway, NY man attempting to put together components for a "death-ray" device he intended to use against Muslims living in the United States. Some of his plans detailed targets such as a mosque in Albany, a Muslim school in Colonie and even the White House, prosecutors said.

CBS 6 Albany reports that 51 year-old white supremacist Glendon Scott Crawford was convicted of attempting to acquire and use a radiological dispersal device, conspiring to use a weapon of mass destruction and distributing information relating to weapons of mass destruction last month.  Crawford's sentence isn't till December but it is expected he'll spend at least 15 years in jail.

Under the Freedom of Information Law, CBS6 obtained video clips of some of his interactions with undercover FBI agents that were used during his trial. Crawford reportedly met with the men he believed the undercover agents were members of the KKK in a hotel room in North Carolina.

The FBI was contacted after Crawford contacted a North Carolina KKK hotline looking for a Klan leader. A sting operation was set up shortly after. Once the meeting in North Carolina was complete, Crawford returned to the Capital Region and begun making plans to construct the death-ray. He went on a search for parts, software and met an undercover agent at a Schenectady hotel room to look at small tubes for the X-ray device.

Crawford alerted the agents in June 2013 that he had the remote control radio to activate the device ready and requested they meet him at a warehouse in Schaghticoke. Crawford was arrested alongside computer software engineer Eric Freight in June 2013, after a thirteen month investigation.

He was convicted on August 21 guilty of conspiring to use a weapon of mass destruction and attempting to build and use a radiological dispersal device. He also was convicted of distributing information with respect to a weapon of mass destruction.
