One person is dead, and at least four others were injured after a construction crane tipped over in Tribeca and landed on to street below.

The NY Daily News reports that 38-year-old David Wichs, who worked for Tower Research Capital, was killed when the crane fell on top of a row of parked cars on Worth St. at about 8:30 a.m. Friday morning.

A heavy snow squall with winds of over 20 mph had moved into the Manhattan area.

Mayor Bill de Blasio said that the crane went out of control as workers tried to lower it into a secure position because of the windy weather.

Police say that 45 year old Dawn Kojima and 73 year-old Thomas O'Brien suffered the most serious injuries but were not critically hurt.
