They were just doing their job, right?

According to La Opinión de Tenerife, a zoo worker at Tenerife's Loro Parque Zoo, on the Canary Islands, thought there was an escaped gorilla on the loose in the park. Little did they know the actual primate they shot with a tranquilizer gun was not a gorilla, but in fact was an employee dressed up in a gorilla suit. The man was wearing the suit as part of a drill to prepare zoo employees what to do in case of an escaped animal. The shot employee was rushed to a nearby hospital where they were treated for an allergic reaction to the sedative.

The Zoo has had it's share of issues before such as the death of an employee in 2009 after being attacked by an orca whale. There have been numerous other problems at the Spanish zoo, with safety and animal welfare violations being reported in the past.
