A recent expansion of a nearby indoor waterpark has now made it the largest in the country.

In March construction was finally completed on the 220,000 square foot waterpark which is now double the size it was last year. To put it in perspective, the park is now larger than some of the nation's biggest Walmart stores.

According to USA Today, the Kalahari Resort in the Pocono Mountains opened in 2015 and was an immediate success. In order to keep up with demand, owners doubled the size of the park adding new water attractions, slides and even some adult-friendly swim-up bars.

The water slides are so immense that they now actually poke out of the sides of the building, keeping riders comfortable with heated water even when it's snowing outside. And the lazy river, which was already pretty big, is now connected via a conveyor belt to a whole new section of lazy river that snakes through the newly expanded park.

With the addition of a spa, an upscale steakhouse, new convention space and amenities, the resort is expected to become a popular weekend destination for Hudson Valley families looking to escape the winter without having to fly south.

Do you plan on visiting the newly expanded Kalahari Waterpark? Be sure to take some photos and send them our way, we'd love to see what they've done with the place.
