A man from the upper Hudson Valley region was arrested for allegedly assaulting and injuring a 6-year-old child.

New York State Police at Catskill arrested John T. Jenkins, 34, of Coxsackie and charged him with 3rd-degree assault and endangering the welfare of child, both misdemeanors.

Police say the arrest comes after authorities received a complaint that a 6-year-old was injured.

An investigation led police to allege that Jenkins caused the child’s injuries. No other details were released.

Jenkins was arraigned in the Town of Coxsackie Court and was released on his own recognizance and must return for a future court date.
