The 61-year old man who was found dead in Newburgh early Wednesday has been identified. 

The City of Newburgh Police along with New York State Police Major Crimes Unit, and the Orange County District Attorney's Office are investigating the early morning assault that occurred Wednesday.

A 61-year old white male was found dead inside 44 Grand Street, which used to be home to a popular Newburgh bar, Pineapple Larry's.

The building is now operated by Youth Advocate Programs, Inc. ("YAP") staff, which offers transitional life skills training to homeless men, including some formally incarcerated persons.

The victim was identified as Robert Munson, aged 61. Mr. Munson had been a YAP advocate since 2014, and worked the overnight shift.
