Update: Missing Lower Hudson Valley Man Found Dead

The body of a missing lower Hudson Valley man was found in a field Monday afternoon. 

As we earlier reported, police were asking for the public's assistance in locating 59-year-old Joseph Sharpe, of Mohegan Park, in Cortlandt, New York.

Sharpe was last seen on January 27, 2017 when he left Mohegan Park located on Lexington Avenue in the Town of Cortlandt. It was believed that Sharpe may have staying in a homeless shelter, or with a connection in Yonkers.

On February 27, 2017 at 3:48 pm responded to a report of a deceased subject located in a field. Subsequent to further investigation, troopers were able to identify Mr. Sharpe as the deceased.

At this time, Sharpe's death does not appear to be suspicious in nature. An autopsy was performed on Tuesday at the Westchester Medical Examiner's Office.

The cause and manner of death is pending toxicology.
