Police released more details into the two man who were arrested following a high-speed wrong-way chase in Ulster County. It’s believed the pair committed a crime in Dutchess County prior to the chase.

Authorities tried to stop the vehicle near Route 9W and Route 199 in the Town of Ulster. However, the vehicle fled south on Route 209.

Members of the New York State Police and Town of Ulster Police also attempted to stop the vehicle.

Later the vehicle drove south in the northbound lanes on Route 209. A woman posted on the Ulster County Sheriff’s Facebook Page that she was almost hit the car as it drove in the wrong direction.

The Explorer exited onto Route 28 and drove east in the westbound lane. While traveling in the wrong direction on Route 28, the vehicle hit a parked car in front of Kingston Nissan.

The vehicle continued onto Washington Avenue, with a flat tire, and was eventually stopped by police on Washington Avenue just west of Hurley Avenue in the City of Kingston.

Darryl Dixon Jr, 30, and 29-year-old Devada Hines, both of Fort Lauderdale, FL were arrested. Their car was a rental vehicle displaying a stolen New York State license plate, police say.

Both were charged with tampering with physical evidence, criminal possession of stolen property, felonies, and resisting arrest, a misdemeanor.

Dixon was also charged with reckless endangerment, a felony, unlawfully fleeing a police officer, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, reckless driving, misdemeanors, leaving the scene of a property damage motor vehicle accident and many traffic violations.

Dixon was taken to a local hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing further charges are likely, police say.
