The Poughkeepsie Journal is reporting that 29-year-old Sergine Domenicucci was arrested under Leandra's Law for driving while ability impaired by drugs with a 1-year-old child in the vehicle. The arrest was a result of a traffic stop on Route 32 in New Paltz over the weekend.

Leandra's Law has been a law in New York since 2009. This law makes it an automatic felony on the first offense to drive drunk, or impaired by drugs, with a person age 16 or younger inside the vehicle. It is punishable by up to four years in state prison.

According to New York State, this law was named in memory of 11-year-old Leandra Rosado, who was killed when an SUV she and seven other children were riding in crashed on the Henry Hudson Parkway in Manhattan in October 2009. Leandra's father championed the law.

Domenicucci remains in the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $5,000 dollars cash or $20,000 dollars bond, according to The Poughkeepsie Journal.
