An Ulster County Teenager was arrested for allegedly selling drugs to undercover police officers.

Since the start of 2016 members of Ulster Regional Gang Enforcement Narcotics Team, URGENT, have been investigating drug sales in the New Paltz area.

URGENT officials say 19-year-old Chevon A. Lawrence, of New Paltz sold around 50 Xanax pills to undercover cops in Ulster County.

Lawrence turned himself into the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday. He was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal sale of a controlled substance, both felonies.

Lawrence was arraigned in the Town of New Paltz Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 secured bond. He’s due back in court at a later time.

The following agencies have members assigned to URGENT: Ulster County Sheriff's Office, Ulster County District Attorney's Office, Town of Woodstock Police, Town of Lloyd Police, Town of Shandaken Police, Ulster County Probation, Town of Plattekill Police, Town of Marlborough Police, Town of New Paltz Police, Village of Ellenville Police and the United States Department of Homeland Security Investigations.
