An Ulster County man is accused of waving and pointing a gun at another patron outside of a popular local steakhouse.

On Sunday, Ulster County 911 reported receiving several 911 calls that a man was pointing a gun at another person at the Hot Rocks Steakhouse on Route 9W in Saugerties.

Following an investigation, 26-year-old Eduardo L. Trujillo of Saugerties was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, resisting arrest and menacing, all misdemeanors.

According to eyewitnesses, after making inappropriate comments and “acting strange” Trujillo was asked to leave the premises by restaurant staff. Trujillo then yelled out in the restaurant and went into the parking lot.

Witnesses told police that Trijullio went to his car and retrieved a hand gun. As several people left the restaurant, Trujillo is accused of confronting one person, waiving the gun around and pointing it at the person.

Later, Trujillo was verbally abusive towards officers, spit on the officers and then got physical with the officers, police say.

After a brief struggle, Trujillo was taken into custody and transported to Saugerties Police Headquarters.

At police headquarters Trujillo allegedly continued to be aggressive towards officers.

Trujillo was taken to the Kingston Hospital by police for psychiatric evaluation.

A search of Trujillo’s vehicle resulted in the discovery of a pellet gun replica of a Berretta 92 F 9mm semi-automatic handgun, police say.
