Ulster County Man Charged With Murder

An Ulster County man has been charged with murdering another Ulster County man. The day of the fatal stabbing police caught and arrested the suspect in Washington D.C.

Tuesday an Ulster County grand jury filed an indictment in New York State Supreme Court charging Earl Edwards, Jr. with 2nd-degree murder.

The indictment charges that on May 26, 2016 the 26-year-old Saugerties man intended to kill 40-year-old Rameen Perry, also from Saugerties, and did kill Perry.

Perry was fatally stabbed at his home. Edwards fled the scene and was found later that day on a train in Washington D.C. He was taken into custody by plain clothes Amtrak Police.

The Office of the Medical Examiner ruled the death a homicide and determined the cause of death to be the result of a perforation of the heart due to a stab wound to the chest.

Edwards is scheduled to be arraigned on the indictment in Ulster County Court on June 9.
