One person has died as the result of a house fire in Ulster County.

In a press released from the Esopus Fire Department, which was shared on Facebook, they were dispatched to a house fire early Tuesday morning, July 10th. When firefighters arrived on the scene 5 minutes after the call, they were met with a "well involved" fire at 719 Old Post Road.

The firefighters on the scene "battled heavy fire conditions." Two of the homes occupants were safely removed from the home and were then evaluated by the Town of Esopus Volunteer Ambulance Squad. The other occupant was located, but had "succumbed to injuries sustained by the fire."

The Ulster County Sheriff's Office in cooperation with the Ulster County Fire Investigation Unit are currently investigating the incident.

The Esopus Fire Department would like to remind residents to be prepared in the event of a house fire. Know your two exits, working smoke alarms save lives and if there is a fire in your house "get out and stay safe."
