Two men from Newburgh, including one who was wanted by police, were arrested in Beacon.

Sunday, City of Beacon Police conducted a traffic stop near Main Street. Police say a 2006 Jeep, driven by 31-year-old Channon Powell included two passengers, one who was identified as 30-year-old Lee L. Whitted.

Whitted was want by City of Newburgh Police for an outstanding bench warrant and placed under arrest. Whitted allegedly was also found to be in possession of cocaine.

Authorities say Powell gave consent to search his vehicle. Police allegedly found a baton in the car.

Whitted was charged for his bench warrant and criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor. Powell was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, a felony, and a traffic violation.
