Two 12-year old juveniles were arrested on felony arson charges following an investigation.

On December 8, state police arrested two twelve year subjects for felony arson 4th-degree,and arson 5th-degree (misdemeanor). At approximately 5:40 p.m. on December 7, Columbia County 911 dispatched Chatham Fire Department and the Chatham Police to a reported brush fire at the fairgrounds.

Fire personnel located, and extinguished a small fire near a building. At approximately 7:15 p.m. Chatham Fire Department was dispatched to a separate brush fire at the Rite-Aid Pharmacy located in the Village of Chatham.

Chatham Police requested the assistance from the  New York State Police and Bureau of Criminal Investigation from Livingston. Further investigation revealed that two juveniles were allegedly responsible for setting several fires in the village.

Both juveniles were issued Family Court appearance tickets for Arson 4th and 5th degree.
