As local residents battle an out of control blaze, one man poses for a 'selfie' with the fire that has already consumed over 2,300 acres in Sullivan and Ulster Counties.

Twitter user @NotCharlieSturm posted this image on his Twitter feed on May 4 with the caption, "Visited the Sullivan county fire last night. Was gettin wild."  The photo and Tweet have since been deleted.

The posting was followed by several hashtags including #shescooked and #pinebushablaze.

Some have criticized the picture, saying it shows insensitivity towards the Hudson Valley residents who worry about losing their homes to the fire and the countless firefighters who are tirelessly working to battle the blaze.

One Twitter user replied to the picture by saying "You run away from fire, Charles not towards it." It is believed that the blaze was begun by someone clearing brush from their property and ignoring a burning ban. Fire departments from around the region have been called in for assistance as more roads are closed and residents are evacuated from their homes.

What do you think about the picture? Is it in poor taste?
