The company that operates the Polar Express experienced a train derailment this week with 20 people on board.

According to the Daily Freeman no one was injured when a locomotive derailed on the Catskill Mountain Railroad's Mt. Tremper line. The train has been running scenic Fall Foliage tours that take visitors on a trip through the Catskills to see the autumn colors.

The train accident happened on Friday afternoon, canceling this weekend's tours. This was to be the last weekend Catskill Mountain Railroad offered the foliage rides. People who had tickets can contact the railroad for refunds by calling (845) 688-7400 or emailing cmrrinfo@gmail.com.

The Catskill Mountain Railroad will begin their annual Polar Express tours on November 17. These rides take place on a different section of tracks that depart from Kingston, but it's unclear if the same train and locomotive are used for the holiday-themed tours.

The Polar Express is a popular family activity with trips to the "North Pole" departing from Kingston. The 90-minute tour features music and characters from the movie of the same name.
