A two car fatal crash on Route 9 is still under investigation after a 13-year-old child dies and others are injured.

The New York State Police say Judith Gagliardi of Chatham NY was operating her 2015 Subaru Crosstrek when she struck another vehicle around 10:30 on Thursday night. The 74-year-old driver was traveling south on Route 9 near Kinderhook when she turned left onto Route 28 Gagliardi struck a 2004 Honda Civic.

The driver of the Honda and two passengers were transported to Albany Medical Center, while a 13-year-old passenger in the rear seat was pronounced dead at the scene. Gagliardi and her two passengers were also treated for injuries.

The identity of the deceased 13-year-old is being withheld until all family members can be notified.

While the accident is still being investigated, State Police say there is no indication that either driver was impaired by drugs or alcohol. Investigators are still trying to determine if the passengers were wearing seat belts.
